The West African Alliance in The Gambia

The Gambia hosts West African countries to accelerate the operationalization of carbon markets.

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR), in partnership with the West African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance (WAA), is convening a high-level regional meeting and national workshop in Banjul.

This strategic gathering will bring together representatives from the 16 West African member countries, alongside key technical and institutional partners, to:
✅ Advance carbon market preparedness
✅ Accelerate the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
✅ Strengthen regional coordination on climate finance mechanisms
