Join the West Africa Carbon Market Hub in Dakar!
The climate emergency calls for collective and innovative action, particularly in West Africa, where sustainable development challenges are pressing. In this context, the West Africa Carbon Market Hub, a major initiative of the West African Alliance on Carbon Markets, will take place from May 28 to 30, 2025, in Dakar, Senegal. Organized in collaboration with the IETA (International Emissions Trading Association) and the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition of Senegal, this event also benefits from the support of several key partners.
This second edition of the Carbon Market Hub follows the success of the first meeting held in Abidjan, which laid the groundwork for strengthened collaboration between governments and the private sector. The Dakar hub aims to deepen these exchanges and invigorate carbon market activities in the region. The anticipated presence of ministers and policymakers from member countries of the alliance underscores the significance of this event, which will serve as a platform to discuss critical issues and opportunities offered by carbon markets.
The West Africa Carbon Market Hub aims to create a dialogue space around the challenges and opportunities of carbon markets, focusing on the operationalization of new regulations stemming from Article 6. This workshop will also promote the adoption of justice and quality principles for carbon markets while gathering valuable feedback from the business community. By raising awareness among participants about priority actions expected from governments and facilitating information sharing and partnerships, this event is part of a collaborative effort to implement concrete and sustainable projects.
The West Africa Carbon Market Hub in Dakar represents a unique opportunity to catalyze climate action in the region. By bringing together leaders, decision-makers, and innovators, this event can not only strengthen synergies among market actors but also contribute to a more sustainable future for West Africa. Don’t miss this chance to participate in an initiative that will shape the future of carbon markets and climate action in our region.
